We’re thrilled to announce our recent win at the 2025 IFA Interior Fitout Awards, held in conjunction with the
IFA National Conference in Melbourne last month. This event celebrates the outstanding talent, creativity, and craftsmanship driving Australia’s fitout and design industry. The awards program provides a platform where winners and finalists showcase world-class projects, highlighting the many elements that come together to create an exceptional interior fitout - from design and joinery to lighting, signage, decorative finishes, flooring, and glazing. Joining our shopfitting peers to celebrate what unites our industry was a true privilege. This year, we were honoured to receive the inaugural “Manufacturer / Supplier – Product Excellence Award.” This recognition from our industry peers holds great significance for our team and reinforces our reputation as an industry leader in the manufacture and installation of durable, high-quality shopfront doors for the retail, hospitality, banking, and shopfitting sectors - a craft we’ve proudly honed for more than 35 years. Our award-winning project was delivered in collaboration with Trivision Shopfitting for the Amuse & The Edit tenancies at Cairns Airport. The use of the Dynaview side-folding closure demonstrated the design flexibility and versatility this bi-folding model offers for large shopfront openings. Finished in sleek black powder coat, the solution provides both visual appeal and reliable after-hours security. This win recognises not just the quality of our product, but also the comprehensive service behind it - from pre-sales design advice to nationwide project delivery and on-time installation by our skilled technicians. We’re proud to share this achievement with our valued partners and clients and remain committed to setting the benchmark for quality and innovation in the shopfront door industry.

If you’re in the retail Fitout sector, you need to know this. For many years the unique benefits of the Dynaview and Dynavent bi-folding concertina-style security door models have been enjoyed by users. Lightweight and easy to operate, the 100mm wide panels allowed minimal clearance to obstructions meaning track lines could run closer to lease-lines, and doors could travel around columns, curved bulkheads and into narrower storage pockets. The secret is in its unique hinge system, in fact, the latest model in the Dynaglide range, the Dynaglide Wide Body, has revolutionised stacking technology allowing retailers to save space and showcase more. This model reduces stack depth by up to 40% compared to other traditional side-folding closures*, providing the shortest stack on the market. Available in our standard clear natural anodised finish with clear polycarbonate or perforated metal panels, or choose from a range of powder-coat colours to complement your store aesthetic. These widely used models are popular in shopping centres, airports, cafes, fast-food outlets and pharmacies around Australia and beyond and are supported by a 24-month warranty. *Comparison based on 6-metre shopfronts using four concertina door style
‘A New Era’ in the Michael Hill retail experience began in 2024, arriving in Chadstone - Australia’s Fashion Capital - the premier retail, lifestyle and hospitality centre and global destination for shoppers. The eye-catching corner location is a modern and polished yet calm space complete with its own signature scent! The soft colour palette connects with nature and embraces simplicity, with clean lines and sleek curves complemented by tonal materials and a feature glass display window. Every detail has been considered, right down to the entry doors. The way the custom-designed Dynasty panels slide into position giving them purpose by day and after-hours, while the use of a powder-coat finish ensures colour consistency throughout the store. Naturally, security featured heavily in the selection of the combination of door models used, custom-sized to suit the nearly 4-metre-tall shopfront opening. Dynamic’s VHD posts further enhanced the already robust side-folding Slim Line Paravent closure and detailed design provided for the perfectly sized storage pocket for the stacked panels when the store was open for trade. Consultation with designers, Architects and shopfitters allows the most suitable door specification to be developed and delivers confidence of a perfect fit on installation day. As a supplier of shopfront doors to Woodland Fitouts and Michael Hill stores for many years, we’re proud to again partner with this industry-leading retailer as a new era begins. For 35 years, Dynamic Closures (Aust) Pty Ltd has been at the forefront of the shopfront security industry, consistently setting new standards in innovation, design, and functionality. As we celebrate this significant milestone, it’s clear that Dynamic Closures has become a trusted name for retail security solutions in shopping centres across Australia. What began as a small operation in a modest 280-square-metre factory in Lilydale, Victoria, has transformed into an industry leader. At the time of its founding, shopfront security was largely reliant on roller shutters and domestic garage doors. But Robert Horner, Managing Director and founder, saw an opportunity to revolutionize the way retail shopfronts were secured. With the introduction of the Wide Body Futura, Slim Line Futura, and grille-style side-folding concertina closures, Dynamic Closures brought a new level of design flexibility and functionality to the market. Early adopters like Delta Music (which later became Sanity Music) quickly saw the benefits of these innovative products. The versatility of the side-folding concertina door system allowed retailers to design modern, flexible store layouts, accommodating tall shopfronts, curved bulkheads, and wide openings. This not only maximized sales floor space but also provided a cleaner, more streamlined look when the doors were stacked away during trading hours. One of the standout features of Dynamic’s doors is their overhead hanging system—no need for floor tracks or cumbersome mullions. This not only makes the doors safer and easier for staff to use but also enhances the overall aesthetic of the shopfront. Secured with auto-retractable top and bottom locking bolts, these doors offer robust security with a user-friendly design, ensuring peace of mind for both retailers and shopping centre managers. As the business grew, so did its ability to innovate. In 1998, Dynamic Closures took on its largest project yet: supplying security doors for stores at Sydney Airport ahead of the 2000 Olympics. This expansion led to the introduction of the Dynaglide model—a game-changer with its 100mm wide panels. The company also introduced new panel materials, such as Paravent, a perforated metal designed to improve airflow, along with a variety of powder-coat finishes for a more customized look. The demand for customised security solutions continued to grow, leading to the launch of the premium Dynasty range. This bespoke range offers fully customizable panel sizes and configurations, giving retailers the flexibility to create a unique and secure shopfront tailored to their specific needs. Today, more than 70% of Australian retail tenancies use various brands of side-folding doors, with Dynamic Closures leading the market. This widespread adoption is a testament to the company’s commitment to quality, security, and design. But Dynamic is more than just a door manufacturer. The company prides itself on its dedicated service team, offering repairs, maintenance, and installation Australia-wide. Skilled technicians ensure on-time delivery and top-notch service, giving retailers confidence that their store is both secure and operational. As a long-time supporter of the Interior Fitout Association (IFA), Dynamic Closures remains committed to working closely with retail designers and shopfitters, always focusing on sustainability, security, and on-time delivery.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our past & present employees, clients, and retail partners who have supported us along the way. As we look to the future, Dynamic Closures is dedicated to continuing its legacy of innovation and excellence. Here's to the next 35 years of success, security, and groundbreaking design in Australia’s retail landscape! Spanish fashion house Loewe opened its Melbourne flagship store in May 2023, offering the largest range of its highly desired bags & accessories, homewares, shoes and mens & ladies ready-to-wear in Australia. It sits proudly in a corner location of the iconic landmark T&G Building, joining other high end luxury retailers at the ‘Paris end’ of Collins Street and is home to an eclectic collection of art and design featuring furniture, homewares and soft furnishings on a backdrop of pristine concrete, ceramic surfaces and glass hemmed by glazed pink tiles. The craft of leathermaking has been central to the Loewe story for in excess of 175 years, combing the passion for traditional techniques and materials with modern technologies to create iconic objects of desire. Committed to the art of handmade craft, the brand has a keen interest in decorative crafts and unique artisan crafted objects and original works along with contemporary art as it inspires and informs their collections. Dynamic Closures was engaged early in the design phase, on the back of our reputation for customised security solutions, to collaborate with the design team and develop a solution for the shop-front interior that would result in an aesthetically pleasing physical security barrier while still enabling after hours community engagement.
The result is a sophisticated side-folding closure with enhanced security features, in-built strength & reliability, hidden in joinery cupboards during trading hours, which provides the reassurance of a secure zone after hours for the retailer and its staff.
The award-winning Space concept has been designed to complement the brand’s digital-first retail model. The minimalistic, monochrome interiors in each Space provide customers with a calm and thoughtful environment to experience Polestar’s product portfolio and connect with the brand.
Visitors to the new Space will be able to explore the in-store vehicles at their own pace and even take a test drive and arrange collection of their new vehicle from the Chadstone Shopping Centre location. June saw our teams from QLD & NSW join a variety of industry suppliers & supporters exhibiting at the Interior Fitout Association (IFA) Trade Shows held in Brisbane & Sydney.
From solid surfaces, laminates, computer software & site equipment to our own Dynamic concertina door samples, there was plenty to get your hands on. Passionate about the industry, exhibitors happily share knowledge and educate the shopfitters attending on the products and services available. Best of all, these free events are a great networking opportunity; catching up with our favourite people in the industry for a drink and a chat is always a good way to spend a couple of hours on a Thursday afternoon. If you're in Melbourne or Perth, make sure you come and see us at local events in August & October. May 2023 saw the opening of Rebel's largest Australian store at Joondalup Lakeside Shopping Centre in Perth, WA. Rebel's Customer Experience store (rCX) combines sporting apparel, footwear, sporting goods with interactive zones, state-of-the-art technology and gaming taking the 'try before you buy' experience to a whole new level. After consultation with Rebel's design team to ensure the shop-front closure solution met the specification and requirements for this large format tenancy, Dynamic was proud to see the purpose built Wide Body model grace the store entry on opening day. Designed for large openings, this concertina style security door is a reliable easy to operate manual folding closure with the ability to stack & store out of sight during trading hours.
We look forward to seeing Rebel Knox (VIC), Rebel Warrawong (NSW) and Rebel Chatswood (NSW) open their (side-folding) doors over the coming months. As an Australian manufacturing business, we have been keenly following the debate and progress of Australia’s Emissions Reduction Plan. We’re proud that our door systems are largely constructed of recyclable materials; aluminium, polycarbonate and glass, part of a sustainable future.
After much research, we felt that moving to low emissions technology for our energy needs would provide the opportunity to reduce our carbon footprint and make a positive impact on the environment. As a renewable source of power, solar energy plays a role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Five months later, we now have 79 solar panels on the roof of our Melbourne factory, generating an estimated annual output of 50223 kilowatt-hours (kWh). We expect that we will export 36% of the low emission energy we generate back to the grid annually. With ever-escalating energy costs and a pay-back period of less than 4 years, this decision is good for our business, our people and the planet. Member networking tees off at Joondalup Friday 17th MarchThe first golfing event on the 2023 Interior Fitout Association member networking calendar was held at Joondalup Country Club Resort, WA on Friday 17th March. IFA members and industry associates were treated to beautiful sunny weather and a stunning location, with the Dynamic team on hand to greet participants with giveaways. The perennial lolly guessing competition was won by Jason from Masonex with his guess being just seven off the correct amount, winning him a Makita tool kit. Masonex are long time supporters of IFA Golf Days in Perth, also generously bidding for the lolly jar in years gone by. This year Dynamic raised $700.00 for the Olivia Newton-John Foundation. Dynamic proudly supports IFA QLD Golf DayThe 2023 IFA QLD / Dynamic Closures Golf Day was held on Friday 24th March at Nudgee Golf Course in Brisbane.
A huge turnout of around 140 players resulted in a fantastic amount of money being raised for Ronald McDonald House Children's Charity in SE Queensland. Dynamic's lolly jar guessing competition has been a crowd favourite for many years and this year was no different! Luke from Trivision took home the Makita tool kit, while all attendees enjoyed giveaways from our hospitality marquee on hole #1. Between the lolly jar guessing competition and the auction of a QLD 2022 NRL State of Origin Jersey at the presentation lunch, just shy of $4,000 was raised for charity. It was an awesome way to spend a sunny Friday and Dynamic hopes to see some of the first-time golfers return next year. |
